Hats 5 & 6

Spiral Hat from 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders in Patons SWS (Soy Wool Stripes) worsted weight 70% Wool/30% Soy (yes, Soy!) in Geranium on US 8 16" circular and double-pointed needles.

Braided Hat from a free pattern site on the internet (you may have to register) in Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride worsted 85% Wool/15% Mohair in Tahiti Teal on US 8 16" circular and dpn's.

My friend Gail asked where I buy my yarn and needles. I like to support my LYS (local yarn store) when I can, but that is not always possible. I love Handworks in Smicksburg (they carry my favorite Lamb's Pride wool/mohair), and Michaels carries more natural fibers than it used to (that's where I bought the Patons SWS). For great prices on affordable luxury yarns (think alpaca & silk, or cashmere!), try Knit Picks online--they have a great paper catalog, too.

Another Afghan Hat!

Really, really easy pattern--one that I could do sitting through a photography class, and a few meetings where I am the volunteer and not the professional. Knitters know that you can knit and pay attention (at least with a fairly simple pattern)--maybe even better attention than if you were not knitting (for those of us who suspect they have ADD), but many people may be insulted if you knit while they are speaking, so I try to be careful about that.

This hat is knitted in Brown Sheep Company's Lamb's Pride 85% wool/15% mohair worsted weight in Kiwi, Orange You Glad, Limeade, and Wild Mustard on size US 9 16" circular and double pointed needles.

Another hat for Afghanistan!

I got my new needles in the mail, so I finished my Basket Lattice Cap from 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders at the Harvest Community Church ladies' craft night last evening.

Let me introduce you . . .

to Chad Hough.
Chad and I have a mutual friend, Lance, who asked that I pray for Chad and his situation, and pass the information on to others, so they could help as well. Here is what Lance had to say: He is a young, local husband and father of four (from ages 8 down to infant) who is a good guy from a good, faithful family. He was diagnosed with some form of leukemia last fall, and since that time he has not been able to work while undergoing treatments.

Chad's wife Denee added:He goes back into the hospital for hopefully what will be his final chemo treatment. He is set to go in on Jan 14th and should get out Jan. 19th. IF all goes as planned then that will be his last. He will be on a maintenance drug after, per a study that he is in. But there is a chance that it will drag his counts down enough that he won't be able to work, but hopefully that will not be the case. He is SO strong he amazes me everyday!!!

Please join me in sending an encouraging card or a note to Chad and his family, and enclose some financial help as well, if you can--anything will help. Thanks, and God bless!

Sweetheart Hat for Afghanistan

Sweetheart Hat pattern from Knitting in the Round, with modifications (I made the brim only 1.5" instead of 3" because I didn't want it to fold up,and I eliminated the last 12 pattern rows before the crown decrease. I can't imagine how it would fit anyone but a cone head if I had followed the pattern . . . . )

Knitted for Afghans for Afghans--yay!

My apologies to non-knitters;
I know this is more boring than usual :)

Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride 100% wool worsted superwash, knitted on 16 " and 12" US 7 circ.

Golden Retriever Chews Hole in Knitting Bag

I have a new hat on a circular needle for Afghans for Afghans; the green cable band hat is on hold while I wait for new needles in the mail :( I thought I had everything I needed when I started the project, but the needle I need to finish it may have disappeared in the Golden Retriever Chews Hole in Knitting Bag incident. That's what I get for stashing a couple of Hershey's Kisses in the bag with my knitting . . . .

This pink project is the Sweetheart Hat pattern from Knitting in the Round in worsted Lamb's Pride 100% wool superwash on a US size 7 16" circular needle.

As I finish each charity knitting project, I will post them in a permalink in the right frame of the blog with the details.

I'm still waiting for someone to join me (hint, hint.) Yes, I know that subtlety is not my strong suit.
